Samsung Bac Ninh

Samsung Bac Ninh
Located in Yen Phong Industrial Park, Bac Ninh Province, Samsung Electronics Vietnam Company Limited (SEV) officially opened its first factory on October 28, 2009, with a total initial investment of nearly USD 700 million. This is the first large-scale mobile phone factory in Vietnam and also the second largest mobile phone factory in the world for Samsung (only after the mobile phone factory in Korea) with the task of supplying mobile phone products to Samsung’s global market. Since it is in operation, SEV has quickly achieved impressive achievements and become one of Samsung Electronics’ most successful global investment projects. The Samsung factories in Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen are the two largest mobile phone factories among Samsung’s 9 global factories, with a total of 100,000 employees working at SEV (Bac Ninh factory) and SEV-T (Thai Nguyen factory) (as of July 2017).
Challenge
  • With the large scale of the factory, the monitoring of environmental quality always needs to be implemented strictly, but this work is still problematic and there is a need for an effective, cost- and human resource efficient monitoring method.
  • For regular reports data must be collected and aggregated, but the accuracy of the data cannot be ensured, so the quality of assessment and prediction is limited.
  • When there are data abnormalities, it takes too much time to detect and remediate.
  • By collecting data manually, data security and integrity cannot be guaranteed.
Solution
  • The screen displays the data that has been sent back by the automatic monitoring station, in various forms and ways (colours, sounds, chart forms, statistical tables etc…)
  • When data exceeds the threshold or a station loses signal, all involved parties are notified through many different channels.
  • Every change in the measured date is recorded with clear time stamps and additional information.
  • The information provided by the monitoring stations is handled in a detailed and systemic way.
  • Reports are based on regulatory templates, as required by the government.
Benefits
  • The actual monitoring becomes easy to do and effective, saving human resources.
  • All incidents are recorded and are providing notifications, thus avoiding major incidents and provide reasoning for data verification.
  • The time spent on reporting and processing data is shortened and can be done quickly and easily.
  • The security of the software has been improved significantly.
