The Nhon Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant is a natural gas-fired power plant located in Phu Huu Ward, Nhon Trach City, Dong Nai Province, Vietnam. The plant, invested and operated by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), has a total installed capacity of 1,320 MW. Construction of the plant commenced in 2007, and it began commercial operation in 2012. Nhon Trach 1 utilizes natural gas from the Nam Con Son gas field for power generation, contributing to national energy security and promoting the socio-economic development of the southern region.
Modern Technology and Environmental Safety
Modern technology and environmental safety are crucial characteristics of the Nhon Trach 1 Thermal Gas Power Plant. Equipped with gas turbines and generators from General Electric (USA), the plant not only employs advanced technological solutions but also commits to ensuring environmental safety and compliance with the highest standards in the power industry.
In addition, the plant places special emphasis on emissions treatment. By integrating an advanced emissions treatment system, the Nhon Trach 1 Thermal Gas Power Plant not only ensures efficient removal of harmful gases but also strictly adheres to environmental protection standards. This helps the plant operate efficiently while minimizing negative impacts on the surrounding environment.
Exceeding Production Targets at Nhon Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant
Looking back at the first half of 2023, the Nhon Trach 1 and Nhon Trach 2 power plants of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) achieved and exceeded their production targets, demonstrating their strength and flexibility in a competitive power market.
Impressive Electricity Output
With a total electricity output of 2,633 million kWh, Nhon Trach 1 contributed 524 million kWh, surpassing the six-month plan by over 29%. Notably, Nhon Trach 1 operated two units steadily, actively participating in the competitive electricity market and only using diesel oil as fuel in April and May due to unfavorable hydrological conditions.
Nhon Trach 2 Power Plant also recorded success with an output of 2,109 million kWh, reaching 115% of the six-month plan. Despite facing challenges such as reduced gas supply and operating on diesel oil in April and May, Nhon Trach 2 maintained stable production.
Future Plans
In the second half of the year, PV Power NT 1 commits to coordinating to ensure fuel supply and efficient operation. They also aim to exceed the production plan for the entire year 2023, focusing on negotiating and coordinating electricity production to ensure safety and efficiency in production and business. Maintenance and debt collection for electricity are also crucial tasks to achieve comprehensive and sustainable goals for Nhon Trach 1 and Nhon Trach 2 Thermal Power Plants.
Upgrading Environmental Monitoring System at Nhon Trach 1
The thermal power plant has taken a significant step in upgrading its environmental monitoring system by integrating advanced technology into the management and control of parameters related to air and industrial wastewater. This is implemented through the deployment of iLotusLand, an environmental management software using IoT technology.
Air Emission Monitoring: Two air emission monitoring stations have been added to the system, helping monitor and assess air quality from the plant's production processes.
Industrial Wastewater Monitoring: Three industrial wastewater monitoring stations have been added to measure and control the quality of wastewater from production activities.
1/ LotusLand Monitoring Software:
- The software helps measure, manage, monitor, and report environmental monitoring parameters from monitoring stations.
- Uses IoT technology to automatically collect and transmit data to the management center.
- Supports the plant in making informed decisions regarding waste treatment, optimizing production processes.
Real-time Data Control and Reporting: Monitoring data is reported continuously and rapidly in real-time, ensuring strict compliance with state regulations.
2/ Data Integration from 5 Monitoring Stations:
Data from the five monitoring stations (2 air emission and 3 industrial wastewater) are transmitted and connected through the iLotusLand software. This helps the plant optimize costs and resources, providing convenience and efficiency in environmental management.
Significant Role in Sustainable Development
Nhon Trach 1 Gas Thermal Power Plant is one of the largest gas power plants in Vietnam. The plant plays a crucial role in meeting the energy needs of the southern region, contributing to the socio-economic development of the area.
Thanks to innovations in environmental management, Nhon Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant commits to maintaining compliance and contributing to environmental sustainability. The plant continues to strive to improve the environmental quality in the production area.
