Deploying wastewater & emissions monitoring data software at Binh Duong Biwase

The socio-economic development is on the rise; however, it leaves a considerable amount of wastewater. In urban areas facing severe pollution, streams and rivers are heavily contaminated, posing a serious threat to water resources and water treatment plants. Recently, the province of Binh Duong has shown significant interest and investment in propaganda efforts, building wastewater and exhaust gas treatment facilities, and an automatic monitoring system for environmental discharges. These initiatives have proven to be highly effective.

In response to the economic development trends closely related to the environment, Binh Duong Water Environment JSC (Biwase) has implemented the installation of a wastewater and air treatment system, in conjunction with deploying iLotusLand data monitoring software. This has enabled the company to maximize real-time data monitoring, saving time and costs in monitoring pollution parameters. It also facilitates the connection between the business and regulatory authorities in monitoring and managing water environment quality, particularly water quality.

Binh Duong Water - Environment Join Stock Company (BIWASE)

Established as Binh Duong Water Supply Center prior to 1975, in 2005, the company underwent a transformation and changed its name to Binh Duong Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Company Limited (BIWASE). After several transformations, in 2016, the company officially changed its form from a 100% state-owned limited liability company to a joint-stock company under the name Binh Duong Water - Environment Corporation.

BIWASE is primarily engaged in the exploitation, treatment, and supply of clean water for urban and industrial use. BIWASE was established on May 31, 2013, and is considered the first domestic wastewater treatment plant under the Southern Binh Duong Environmental Improvement Project in Thu Dau Mot City, making it the largest wastewater treatment plant in Binh Duong.

Funded by ODA, in 2003, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province assigned BIWASE to be the investor in the Solid Waste Treatment Complex with the task of collecting and treating solid waste in the southern part of the province, including Thuận An, Dĩ An districts, and Thu Dau Mot town, which are attracting investment and industrial development.

Up to now, Biwase has increased its water supply capacity by 100 times compared to 30 years ago, from 7,500m3/day to 760,000m3/day. There are currently four wastewater treatment plants with a total capacity of nearly 90,000m3/day, each with a separate collection system. The wastewater treatment branch of Biwase receives and processes about 2,500 tons of domestic waste daily. All waste is completely processed, such as composting to produce compost, making bricks, etc. Non-recyclable waste is utilized to generate 5MW of electricity. Currently, landfill sites are 100% closed, and the entire waste treatment and recycling technology is being continuously improved by Biwase to contribute to the province's sustainable development while protecting the environment.

BIWASE deploys the installation and usage of the iLotusLand monitoring software for wastewater and air quality monitoring

The total water supply capacity of BIWASE is currently 680,000m3/day and night; it receives and processes 2,200 tons of domestic waste and over 300 tons of industrial waste daily; recycled waste becomes organic fertilizer reaching nearly 1,700 tons/day… With the motto "For community health, for sustainable environment", the company continually strives to research and apply superior, environmentally friendly technologies in its business operations.

For this reason, BIWASE has decided to invest in equipment and install an automatic wastewater and air quality monitoring system to measure wastewater quality before discharging it into the environment. This is a prerequisite for environmental protection and preservation, contributing to raising awareness of environmental protection for enterprises in general and individuals in particular.

Thanks to the aforementioned projects and the contributions of the company, by the beginning of 2018, the rate of rural households in the province with clean and sanitary water for domestic use reached 99%, of which the rate of clean water was 68.1%; the rate of households using sanitary toilets reached 97%; the rate of treated waste in livestock pens reached 88%.

Current Status

Through the process of measurement and analysis of parameters such as COD, pH, SO2, NOx, CO, O2, color, temperature, and pressure, the monitoring results are transmitted directly to the management department for timely notification and alerting on the quality of air and wastewater at the installed locations. Consequently, businesses can detect and address potential sources of pollution affecting the surrounding living quality. Additionally, the monitoring data is also transmitted to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

Monitor wastewater and emissions monitoring data

iLotusLand has collaborated with Việt An Environment to install 5 monitoring stations, including 4 air quality stations and 1 wastewater station for the company. The installation and usage of the Data Monitoring System at the BIWASE Binh Duong plant helps continuously monitor accurate indicators, ensuring the quality of emitted air and wastewater. Especially, it helps the plant optimize production costs.

In addition, choosing to use iLotusLand software provides a solution for air quality monitoring that complies with the latest Circular 02/2022/TT-BTNMT of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
