Environmental Challenges in Binh Duong Province, Vietnam

Digital Transformation in Environmental Management and Protection

Facing increasingly high challenges in environmental protection and the need for transformation into a smart city, the DONRE of Binh Duong has proposed a breakthrough solution: implementing the Environmental Information Gateway through the Sharing & Integration feature, using the iLotusLand On-Premise monitoring software. With a total of 372 stations, including Groundwater Monitoring, Wastewater, Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS), Surface Water, and Hydrometeorology, this marks a significant step forward in environmental management and towards the goal of building a smart city.

This vibrant landscape hosts a diverse array of industries, including textiles, electronics, wood processing, and food manufacturing,... which leads it to a top contributor to Vietnam's GDP. That being said, it also comes with more concerns in the mission of environmental protection. I. THE CHALLENGE With the rapid development in industrial operation and the fast growth of installation for monitoring stations, its number has reached 372 stations including Waste Water, CEMS, Ground Water, Surface Water, and Hydrometeorology for both industry discharge management and natural resource management purposes. Binh Duong authority found it extremely hard and time-consuming to manage them effectively because all the stations are decentralized and not connected. As a result, these monitoring tasks were being done mainly manually and the source of data was considered to be “untrusted”. II. THE SOLUTION Together with the release of data transmission regulations, iLotusLand offered to Binh Duong province the iLotusLand platform for Environment (On-Premise). It gives the management department of Binh Duong a great tool a complete the job for the following reasons. Firstly, it is installed in the authority’s server, ensuring its data is well-controlled. Secondly, the platform is scalable and can handle an unlimited number of stations well.
