The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population Established in 1936, the Ministry not only oversees public healthcare but also ensures the protection of the living environment. In this project, the Ministry installed three surface water monitoring stations along the Nile River to ensure water quality meets high standards for drinking, agriculture, and ecosystem preservation.

Challenges in Surface Water Monitoring

Monitoring the Nile’s water quality entails more than just technological concerns; it raises critical data security issues. Remote monitoring from three stations requires centralized data access via a unified dashboard. Traditional methods often rely on overseas servers, posing potential violations of Egypt’s national data security policies. This necessitated a solution to securely store data locally while still enabling centralized and remote monitoring capabilities.

The monitored parameters include actual conductivity, salinity, total dissolved solids, pH, ammonium, ammonia, temperature, dissolved oxygen concentration, and more, empowering the Ministry to make timely and informed decisions.
